The Business Unit Manager will manage the assigned Product Line, developing and managing the product line’s business plan. The responsibilities of the Business Unit Manager include increasing the profitability of existing products to developing new products for the company. The Business Unit Manager utilizes existing ideas to assist in the development of new ideas based on industry experience and contacts with current and potential customers. The Business Unit Manager must possess business and technical skills, the ability to visualize strategic and long-term objectives, and the drive to make that vision a reality. The Business Unit Manager must be able to communicate with all areas of the company and will serve as the internal and external liaison for the assigned product line. Manages the entire product line from strategic planning to tactical activities. Essential Job Functions

  • Maintains Product Line staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Determines product pricing by utilizing market research data, reviewing production and sales costs, anticipating volume, and costing special and customized orders.
  • Brings new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs, by preparing return-on-investment analyses, and establishing time schedules with engineering and manufacturing.
  • Work closely with the General Manager insuring the alignment of the Product Line and Paul Mueller Company objectives. This position is to assist in the protection and promotion of the interests of the Paul Mueller Company as a whole.
  • Regular, in-person attendance due to necessary teamwork and personal interactive nature of this position.
  • Position requires travel up to 20% with possible international travel.  Actual travel time will depend on the needs of the product line and what is required to meet the business plan objectives.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Base Compensation Range: $117,251 - $200,562 annually

Variable Compensation Range: Incentive bonus eligibility up to 10% of gross annual salary base on company performance (as of 2024).

Co-workers in this classification are required to have an advanced understanding and competency in stainless steel welding and grinding operations and blue print reading. Must be able to pass our Craftsman Welding test.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform difficult and unusual manual and machine welding operations in all positions, including layout and fit up
  •  Shape, cut or form metal to fabricate complex parts using press brake, shear, roll, dishing machine, flanging equipment and various forming equipment.  Layout, locate and mark bending lines, construct templates and patterns
  •  Set up or assist lower classifications in setting up machines
  •  Operate mobile crane equipment with the capacity of greater than 20,000 lbs. and directs the rigging and hoisting of equipment
  •  Finish grinding where grade and type of abrasive must be determined. Finish and compliance to specifications are critical
  •  Perform other duties requiring similar skills and abilities as assigned
  •  Guide and train other employees in any classification to improve their skills and perpetuate the trade

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (Competencies), Education

  • Requires considerable skills to fuse dissimilar metals, maximize weld strength, avoid distortion and conform to exacting tolerances and specifications. Must obtain and maintain ASME certifications 
  •  Layout, locate and mark bending lines, construct templates and patterns
  •  Knowledgeable in physical properties of metal, effects of heat, allowances for thickness, weld shrinkage and welding techniques
  •  Ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints, sketches or other specifications with a high degree of proficiency and little or no supervision or direction. 
  • Knowledge of product, mechanics, shop mathematics, shop processes and procedures is essential
  •  Knowledge of abrasives, conditions of metal and finish are critical

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 
  • Basic Blueprint reading, basic welding and basic grinding

Base Compensation Range: $23.45 - $25.20 per hour 

Shift Differential: $2.00 per hour

The Design Engineer performs design and layout work, usually for multiple major projects, simultaneously.  This position will support the needs of each project through individual phases and final installation.  Responsibilities may include acting as a lead designer. 

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for converting project information (e.g. specifications, general sales order information, data sheets, etc.) into drawings and other documentation that manufacturing then uses to produce a product.
  • Responsible for converting design output into ERP records that manufacturing then uses to produce a product.
  • Responsible for generating parts lists, requisitions and other ERP records necessary to convert design information into system demands.
  • Responsible for various engineering tasks as dictated by the project.  (e.g. calculations, instrument sizing, or other technical document generation).
  • Responsible for review of sales orders and customer specifications.
  • Evaluate and interpret technical requirements and specifications to provide guidance/direction within the design process.
  • Identify deviations in job scope, estimates magnitude of changes, and notifies the appropriate parties.
  • Provide technical support for Manufacturing as needed.
  • Ensure that design continuity is maintained throughout the entire project.
  • Ensure communication flow, both verbal and written, is maintained within engineering and with other design and engineering disciplines.
  • Execute quality control procedures.
  • Ensure lessons learned applied to future efforts.

We are currently looking for someone to join our team of Drivers.  Mueller Transportation, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Paul Mueller Company. This position hauls Mueller equipment as well as backhauls nationwide (and Canada).  Most of our focus is on specialized, oversize and flatbed freight.  Drive some of the newest tractors in the industry.  Home weekly with a few exceptions for longer trips.  

 

Job Functions:

  • Drive truck up to 11 hrs/day
  • Secure loads utilizing chains, straps, tarps, etc.
  • Assist with assembling/disassembling specialized trailers
  • Communicate with customer for delivery 
  • Communicate with MTI operations team for all load and equipment updates/issues
  • Follow all FMCSA driver guidelines
  • Must be able to transport loads into Canada
  • Follow and promote MTI Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Must maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License

The Electrical Engineer I is an entry level engineer who is responsible for multiple lower-level projects or a single large project that support the business through designing, developing, and testing electrical equipment and systems.  This position develops and implements control logic programs, schematics and panel designs through a variety of software programs with the oversight of a Lead or Electrical Engineer II.   The Electrical Engineer I is also responsible for validating the electrical design for reliability, performance, and safety standards.

  • PLC/PAC/OIT troubleshooting activities.
  • Instrument configuration and programming as required to complete projects.
  • Assist electrical team in conduit routing and installation details as required to complete department projects.

We are currently searching for a Fabricator Grinder for our Springfield MO Facility.  Co-workers in this classification have a basic understanding and competency in stainless steel welding and grinding operations.

The Industrial Electrician is responsible for installing and repairing complex electrical equipment, automated machines, controls, panels, relays, circuit breakers, communication systems, and alarms. This position may mentor the Senior Maintenance Specialist position.

The IT Business Analyst II is a mid-level position who is responsible for supporting and responding to simple to more complex needs and challenges as they pertain to the company’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne (JDE) ERP system.  This position will assist users with tickets placed through the IT Help Desk system, research and offer solutions to identified problems, assist in knowledge transfer of JDE functionality, more complex project implementation and management, process documentation, and assist with the implementation of new modules and functionality.  Additionally, this position will be responsible for development of new applications within the JDE system.

The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for direct sales of assigned products within the Heat Transfer Products division.  The individual in this position must have a broad technical knowledge of the Company’s products by virtue of technical education and experience.  This position requires working with customers and Manufacturer’s Representatives defining technical capabilities, application suitability, ASME requirements, design alterations, defining specifications, etc., as needed in selling the Company’s products.  The individual must exercise considerable independent technical and commercial judgment over sales projects within an assigned region of the division.

•    Knowledge of metal working process’s.
•    Knowledge of various welding techniques including TIG, MIG, etc.  
•    Basic knowledge of grinding abrasives and material surface finishes.
•    Understanding of manufacturing tools and their proper use.
•    Ability to read a tape measure.
•    Read, interpret, and follow blue prints. 
•    Basic computer and mathematical skills.
•    Mechanical aptitude.

Education and Experience

•    HS Diploma or GED equivalent preferred. 
•    One (1) year welding and/or grinding experience preferred.

Base Compensation Range: $23.75 - $26.00 per hour

Variable Compensation Range: Incentive bonus eligibility up to 10% of gross annual salary based on compa-ny performance (as of 2024).

Working Conditions
Exposure to conditions, such as: dust, fumes, noise and high-degree varying seasonal temperatures. Machinery with energy sources including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, or other energy.

Professional office environment with some time spent in a manufacturing shop. Use of standard office equipment (computers, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets, etc.). Frequent presence on the manufacturing floor as well as field operations. Exposure to conditions, such as: dust, fumes, noise and high-degree varying seasonal temperatures.
