The Manufacturing Engineering Technician is responsible for developing, designing, implementing and managing tooling, processes, and procedures. Training of all personnel on improvements or implementation of tooling, processes, and procedures is key. This position is also responsible for project management that may include large capital expenditures or cost saving initiatives that impact safety, maintenance, quality, on time delivery (OTD), efficiency and inventory. The Welder / Grinder is responsible for basic understanding and competency in welding and grinding of a variety of different metals, shapes, tanks, vessels, piping, components, etc. This position performs precision smoothing, polishing, and grinding of surfaces.
Essential Job Functions
• Set up, operate, and maintain manual welding, grinding, and/or cutting equipment.
• Set up and operate hand and power tools common to the industry.
• Inspect and perform quality checks to ensure conformance to established tolerances and specifications.
• Perform inspection of work pieces for quality defects and communicate appropriately.
• Perform welding and grinding procedures accurately to avoid warping, shrinking, and distortion.
• Position and secure work pieces safely using overhead cranes, hoists, and other appropriate lifting devices.
• Grind work pieces to a #4 (32 RA) finish using approved safety processes and procedures.
• Set up, perform, and maintain various types of polishing equipment as needed.
