Current Openings

The Business Unit Manager will manage the assigned Product Line, developing and managing the product line’s business plan. The responsibilities of the Business Unit Manager include increasing the profitability of existing products to developing new products for the company. The Business Unit Manager utilizes existing ideas to assist in the development of new ideas based on industry experience and contacts with current and potential customers. The Business Unit Manager must possess business and technical skills, the ability to visualize strategic and long-term objectives, and the drive to make that vision a reality. They must enjoy spending time in the market to understand its problems, and actively engage in innovative problem solving activities. 

 

The Business Unit Manager must be able to communicate with all areas of the company and will serve as the internal and external liaison for the assigned product line. The Business Unit Manager directs the Product Line in its daily activities while frequently working with sales and key accounts.

 

Manages the entire product line from strategic planning to tactical activities. Develops the product line by identifying potential products, conducting market research, generating product requirements, determining specifications, developing production timetables, evaluating pricing structures to achieve the product line’s financial objectives, creating and implementing time-integrated plans for product introduction, and developing marketing strategies.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepares short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and special reports and analyses; answering questions and requests.
  • Manages Product Line staff including counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job performance.
  • Determines customers' needs by specifying the research needed to obtain market information, developing and implementing systems to obtain research, and analyzing the outcomes.
  • Facilitates inventory turnover and product availability by reviewing and adjusting inventory levels and production schedules in order to meet the business unit objectives.
  • Recommends future product offerings by reviewing current product specifications and requirements, and evaluating market trends; appraising new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes.
  • Assesses product market data by calling on customers with field salespeople and evaluating sales call results.
  • Obtains product market share by working with sales to develop product sales strategies.
  • Provides source data for product line communications by defining product marketing communication objectives.
  • Assesses market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products.
  • Introduces and markets new products by developing time-integrated plans with sales, advertising, and production.
  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Maintains Product Line staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Determines product pricing by utilizing market research data, reviewing production and sales costs, anticipating volume, and costing special and customized orders.
  • Brings new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs, by preparing return-on-investment analyses, and establishing time schedules with engineering and manufacturing.
  • Work closely with the General Manager insuring the alignment of the Product Line and Paul Mueller Company objectives. This position is to assist in the protection and promotion of the interests of the Paul Mueller Company as a whole.
  • Regular, in-person attendance due to necessary teamwork and personal interactive nature of this position.
  • Position requires travel up to 20% with possible international travel.  Actual travel time will depend on the needs of the product line and what is required to meet the business plan objectives.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with background in Thermodynamics desired.  A minimum of three years related experience is required for this position.

Base Compensation Range: $152,487 - $260,834 annually 

Variable Compensation Range: Incentive bonus eligibility up to 12% of gross annual salary base on company performance.

The Human Resources Generalist position is a key position that provides support and guidance to the organization and all coworkers. This position is responsible for all human resource and people-focused functions such as talent acquisition, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding and general administrative support to the business. This position will also own and execute projects that support continuous improvement for the Human Resources (HR) and the entire organization. 

 

Essential Job Functions

Base Compensation Range: $53,537 - $80,306 annually 

Variable Compensation Range: Incentive bonus eligibility up to 12% of gross annual salary base on company performance (as of 2024).

Summary

The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for direct sales of assigned products within the Refrigeration product line, typically through our established customer and where applicable the dealer network. The individual in this position must have a broad technical knowledge of the Company’s products by virtue of technical education and experience. This position requires working with Dealers, as well as end customers, defining technical capabilities, application suitability, process requirements, system design considerations, defining specifications, etc., as needed in selling the Company’s products. The individual must exercise considerable independent technical and commercial judgment over sales projects within an assigned region of the division. The position requires up to 50% to 75% travel including foreign travel for customer presentations, sales support and service consultation is required.

 

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Grow the sales volume within the assigned region
  • Meet target profitability goals within the assigned region
  • When applicable, manage the Dealers in assigned region maintaining regular contact with them and customers regarding proposals, orders, service requirements, future equipment needs.
  • Provide sales, product and application training to direct customers and dealers.
  • Perform regular analysis and performance evaluation for each customer and dealer within assigned region.
  • Conduct presentations for Customers and Dealers including all technical aspects of the project, pricing, payment terms and shipping schedules.
  • Read, understand and negotiate Terms and Condition for orders.
  • Understand requirements and propose suitable solutions.
  • Review and negotiate settlement of customer complaints in cooperation with other personnel on aftermarket and warranty issues.
  • Develop annual sales plans and expense budgets in assigned region and be an active participant in forecasting and open book management.
  • Perform service of equipment when appropriate and required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager or National Sales Manager.
  • Support Heat Transfer as needed for quoting assistance
  • Assist in developing sales promotions, advertising strategy and trade shows both within assigned territory and outside this territory.
  • Travel up to 50% to 75% of the time including foreign and domestic.
  • Must possess a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license and may provide own vehicle for on-the job transportation purposes, as applicable.

  • Effective use of common computer hardware and proprietary PMC software is required.
  • Basic knowledge of heat-transfer, refrigeration and related math skills.

Preferred candidates possess a college degree in Ag, engineering, marketing or business with experience in refrigeration related sales. Candidates with technical aptitude and strong experience but lesser educational backgrounds will be eligible. The successful candidate will be goal oriented self-motivated, organized, disciplined and able to multitask.

 

Base Compensation Range: $63,736 - $99,691 annually

Variable Commission Plan: Competitive annual plan with quarterly payout

The Treasury and Tax Manager has key responsibilities of managing vendor payments coordinating cash and debt management; preparing real and personal property tax returns; filing and paying sales and use tax, coordinating with third party tax consultants on income tax preparation and issues and maintaining the fixed asset system including managing fixed asset approval and capitalization.  This position may have direct reports.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide on-site leadership for the team by building and motivating team members to meet goals while adhering to their responsibilities.  
  • Maintain knowledge of current Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) guidance, specifically in relation to accounts payable accounting, fixed asset management, treasury, and taxes and update internal processes and procedures to comply as necessary.
  • Implement and maintain accounting procedures to comply with internal control requirements to ensure appropriate internal control processes and procedures are in place and adequate.
  • Communicate to and collaborate with executive management on daily cash / debt status to assist with effective investment / debt reduction initiatives. 
  • Responsible for managing company stock transactions (repurchases / sales, dividend payments, issued / outstanding reporting).
  • Manage the Major Expenditure Request (MER) accounting including designating the appropriate capitalization and tax status of such expenditures. 
  • Maintain the company’s fixed asset system including establishing asset lives in accordance with applicable tax law, calculating depreciation in compliance with GAAP, and disposing of assets with proper authorization. 
  • Responsible for managing the company-wide credit card program including reconciling the employee and accounts payable credit cards and the maintenance of the employee card hierarchy for approvals.
  • Complete a monthly evaluation and cost true-up of Workers Compensation claims while maintaining employee confidentiality.
  • Maintain the monthly calculation of bank covenant(s) and provide necessary feedback to executive management in relation to such covenants. 
  • Complete a monthly analysis of the legal and tax fee accrual accounts and adjust as necessary.
  • Responsible for maintaining the interest expense and income accrual calculations on borrowings and notes receivable (including intercompany notes), respectively. 
  • Calculate and complete a monthly income tax provision journal entry.
  • Manage monthly / quarterly / annual sales, use and commercial activity tax filings for various states including reconciling system generated tax liabilities. 
  • Responsible for updating and filing company-wide personal property assessments and personal property tax returns. 
  • Responsible for reviewing annual real estate tax liabilities for accuracy and timely filing.   
  • Collaborate with third-party tax firm to manage the annual income tax return process including the preparation of files for depreciation adjustments to the tax liability.
  • Manage and complete employee benefit plan audits and 5500 filings for such plans. 
  • Collaborate with the Accounts Receivable department to validate and file unclaimed property returns.
  • Responsible for various government reporting requirements as necessary.
  • Responsible for timely renewal of vehicle licenses as well as applying for new vehicle titles and payment of appropriate sales taxes.
  • Annually prepare and validate 1099 forms to be distributed to applicable vendors.
  • Responsible for collaboration with the other finance / accounting managers during the quarterly and annual audit to ensure that deliverables are provided timely.
  • Coordinate and manage sales and income tax audits as necessary from time to time.
