Current Openings

The Business Unit Manager will manage the assigned Product Line, developing and managing the product line’s business plan. The responsibilities of the Business Unit Manager include increasing the profitability of existing products to developing new products for the company. The Business Unit Manager utilizes existing ideas to assist in the development of new ideas based on industry experience and contacts with current and potential customers. The Business Unit Manager must possess business and technical skills, the ability to visualize strategic and long-term objectives, and the drive to make that vision a reality. They must enjoy spending time in the market to understand its problems, and actively engage in innovative problem solving activities. 

The Business Unit Manager must be able to communicate with all areas of the company and will serve as the internal and external liaison for the assigned product line. The Business Unit Manager directs the Product Line in its daily activities while frequently working with sales and key accounts.

Manages the entire product line from strategic planning to tactical activities. Develops the product line by identifying potential products, conducting market research, generating product requirements, determining specifications, developing production timetables, evaluating pricing structures to achieve the product line’s financial objectives, creating and implementing time-integrated plans for product introduction, and developing marketing strategies.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepares short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and special reports and analyses; answering questions and requests.
  • Manages Product Line staff including counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job performance.
  • Determines customers' needs by specifying the research needed to obtain market information, developing and implementing systems to obtain research, and analyzing the outcomes.
  • Facilitates inventory turnover and product availability by reviewing and adjusting inventory levels and production schedules in order to meet the business unit objectives.
  • Recommends future product offerings by reviewing current product specifications and requirements, and evaluating market trends; appraising new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes.
  • Assesses product market data by calling on customers with field salespeople and evaluating sales call results.
  • Obtains product market share by working with sales to develop product sales strategies.
  • Provides source data for product line communications by defining product marketing communication objectives.
  • Assesses market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products.
  • Introduces and markets new products by developing time-integrated plans with sales, advertising, and production.
  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Maintains Product Line staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Determines product pricing by utilizing market research data, reviewing production and sales costs, anticipating volume, and costing special and customized orders.
  • Brings new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs, by preparing return-on-investment analyses, and establishing time schedules with engineering and manufacturing.
  • Work closely with the General Manager insuring the alignment of the Product Line and Paul Mueller Company objectives. This position is to assist in the protection and promotion of the interests of the Paul Mueller Company as a whole.
  • Regular, in-person attendance due to necessary teamwork and personal interactive nature of this position.
  • Position requires travel up to 20% with possible international travel.  Actual travel time will depend on the needs of the product line and what is required to meet the business plan objectives.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with background in Thermodynamics desired.  A minimum of three years related experience is required for this position.

 

Base Compensation Range: $117,251 - $200,562 annually

Variable Compensation Range: Incentive bonus eligibility up to 10% of gross annual salary base on company performance (as of 2024).

Travel throughout the United States and Canada while operating newer equipment and enjoy being home most weekends.  The Over the Road Driver position is responsible for the delivery of our stainless steel products directly to our customers.  This position is responsible for safe loading and unloading of the product as well as securing loads for travel.  The Over the Road Driver must comply with all safety and transportation rules and regulations for all of North America and Canada established by the Department of Transportation.

 

Essential Job Functions

•    Long distance driving with oversized loads throughout North America and Canada.
•    Assist with loading and unloading equipment and product as needed.
•    Ensure all loads are secure utilizing chains, straps, tarps, etc.
•    Assist with assembling and disassembling trailers as needed.
•    Communicate with customer as needed.
•    Ensure customer deliveries arrive on time and as expected.
•    Communicate with Mueller Transportation operations team as needed. 
•    Maintain a detailed log of working hours to ensure compliance with state and federal rules and regulations.
•    Comply with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) rules and regulations.
•    Must maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
•    The ability to work in a constant state of alertness & safe manner.

Co-workers in this classification are required to have an advanced understanding and competency in stainless steel welding and grinding operations and blue print reading. Must be able to pass a Craftsman Grinding test.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform difficult and unusual manual and machine welding operations in all positions, including layout and fit up
  •  Shape, cut or form metal to fabricate complex parts using press brake, shear, roll, dishing machine, flanging equipment and various forming equipment.  Layout, locate and mark bending lines, construct templates and patterns
  •  Set up or assist lower classifications in setting up machines
  •  Operate mobile crane equipment with the capacity of greater than 20,000 lbs. and directs the rigging and hoisting of equipment
  •  Finish grinding where grade and type of abrasive must be determined. Finish and compliance to specifications are critical
  •  Perform other duties requiring similar skills and abilities as assigned
  •  Guide and train other employees in any classification to improve their skills and perpetuate the trade

  • Requires considerable skills to fuse dissimilar metals, maximize weld strength, avoid distortion and conform to exacting tolerances and specifications. Must obtain and maintain ASME certifications 
  •  Layout, locate and mark bending lines, construct templates and patterns
  •  Knowledgeable in physical properties of metal, effects of heat, allowances for thickness, weld shrinkage and welding techniques
  •  Ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints, sketches or other specifications with a high degree of proficiency and little or no supervision or direction. 
  •  Knowledge of product, mechanics, shop mathematics, shop processes and procedures are essential
  •  Knowledge of abrasives, conditions of metal and finish are critical

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 
  • Basic Blueprint reading, basic welding and basic grinding

 

Base Compensation Range: $23.45 - $25.20 per hour 

Shift Differential: $2.00 per hour

  • Operates mobile crane equipment with the capacity of less than 20,000 lbs. and directs the rigging and hoisting of equipment
  • Set up and operate machines to make production parts to standard shop blueprints
  • Perform ordinary manual welding, grinding and cutting operations in all positions
  • Grind where grade and type of abrasives must be determined by others
  • Quarter heads and shells for fit-up and determine degrees and location of fittings and nozzles
  • Paint where finish or compliance to specifications are critical
  • Operate spray foam insulating and sandblast equipment
  • Perform tinning and complex soldering operations
  • Operate spot and seam resistance welding equipment
  • Set up and operate machines that require minimal skills and experience, such as presses, shears, saws, punches, etc.
  • Assemble motor controls and perform three-phase wiring requiring a working knowledge of ladder diagram logics
  • Coordinate various warehouse activities involving receiving, special order and inventory

The Inside Sales Representative position, sells the organization’s products and services by working with prospective and established customers and researching designs to ensure proper parts are sold. This position maintains sales programs within assigned territory by keeping customers informed about available services, supplies, prices, and new products. This position also monitors competitive activity and trends within territory, maintains records, and prepares reports on sales activities. Additionally, this position actively searches to find new sales leads and develop markets.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Meet established sales quotas and margin guidelines.
  • Broad knowledge of the product line and services.
  • Estimate prices for standard and custom products.
  • Collaborate with operations and suppliers to provide accurate lead time quotations. 
  • Develop sales orders packets and manage change orders, warranties, and sales concessions.
  • Create and finalize sales in a timely manner through daily use of Hubspot.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports on sales activities.
  • Monitor competitive activity and trends within the market for standard parts.
  • Annually maintain cost selling levels of standard parts price list and customer tier pricing.
  • Ownership of spare parts logistics, identifying stock outages, and suggestion of part stocking levels. 
  • Conduct historical research on Mueller Industrial Equipment to provide customer parts sales quotation.
  • Create replacement lists for TOPs as needed.
  • Manage the aging report and update customers on outstanding late invoices.
  • Assist Service and Credit Departments in negotiating settlements of complaints and collection.
  • Manage customer relations and correspondence by maintaining regular contact with customers through daily calls, e-mail, mail, etc.
  • Assist in development of sales promotions, web site, advertising and producing Company marketing material.
  • Perform all sales duties as best of ability to do so as needed and assigned.
  • Light travel (approx. 10-15%) as required to customer locations or industry tradeshows.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations or perform demonstrations as needed.
  • Leverage knowledge of Senior Inside Sales Representative in regards to methodology, skills, and tools.

The Maintenance Specialist works as part of a team performing preventative maintenance and mechanical or electrical repairs on machinery, and vehicle or facility repairs. 

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform regular preventative maintenance. 
  • Maintain housekeeping of maintenance area and work site areas. 
  • Perform repairs on machinery, vehicles, or facility as required. 
  • Determine degree of damage to item to be repaired. Disassemble item and list parts necessary for repair. 
  • Replace parts and repair any defective metal parts which need welding.
  • Operate equipment to verify safe, effective repair.
  • Design fixtures, tooling and fixtures as required to meet custom needs
  • Repair hand tools - production tools and maintenance tools.
  • Troubleshoot and repair defective mechanical or electrical parts.
  • Install equipment - both new and existing where new plant layouts are needed.
  • Coordinate with area supervisors regarding work which is being conducted on equipment which might impact safety and/or production.
  • All other duties as assigned. 
  • Maintain and operate overhead cranes. 
  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Regular, in-person attendance due to necessary teamwork and personal interactive nature of this position.
  • Overtime is a mandatory condition of employment and frequent in this position.
  • Complete tasks, work orders, and projects as assigned and regularly meets deadlines.     
  • Use of hand tools and machinery is required to maintain equipment and buildings
  • Troubleshoot and repair all electrical and mechanical problems plant wide
  • Must maintain arc flash and LOTO training. 
  • Driver’s license required.

Base Compensation Range: $23.75 - $28.35 per hour 

Shift Differential: 10%

The Maintenance Technician position works as part of a team assisting Maintenance Specialist and Senior Maintenance Specialist.  This position may complete minor or semi-skilled preventative maintains or repairs on uncomplicated equipment.

Summary

The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for direct sales of assigned products within the Dairy Farm Equipment product line, typically through our established dealer network.  The individual in this position must have a broad technical knowledge of the Company’s products by virtue of technical education and experience. This position requires working with Dealers, as well as end customers, defining technical capabilities, application suitability, process requirements, system design considerations, defining

Preferred candidates possess a college degree in Ag, engineering, marketing or business with experience in refrigeration related sales. Candidates with technical aptitude and strong experience but lesser educational backgrounds will be eligible. Base Compensation Range: $63,735 - $99,688 annually

Variable Compensation Range: Incentive bonus eligibility up to 10% of gross annual salary base on company performance (as of 2024).

This position assists with all daily DFE/RP Service Department responsibilities, including but not limited to verbal and written technical customer assistance, technical training, and technical collaboration with Mueller’s DFE/RP internal/external customers. Includes writing and/or updating technical service manuals, service bulletins, replacement parts pages, and warranty administration, claims processing and documentation. Travel as necessary to perform job tasks. 

 

 

Essential Job Functions

 

  • Provide superior technical customer service by resolving service and product reliability related issues in a prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable manner as received from Dealers, Regional Sales Managers, Internal and External Customers, and DFE/RP Management. Includes documentation, delegation, review, and follow-up with the Dealer and/or End User, Production, Engineering, Product Development, Purchasing, Vendors, and Sales Management.
  • Individual must develop and maintain a competent and ongoing knowledge of the technical operation of the DFE and RP product lines, which includes electrical, refrigeration, and dairy sanitation regulations.
  • Assist in conducting DFE Service Training Seminars, including facility maintenance, equipment installation, developing training agendas, materials, presentations and visual training aids.
  • Initiate and maintain DFE/RP Service materials in an updated and current manner. This includes Installation and Service Manuals, Service Bulletins, and Technical Training Aids.
  • Assist customers with warranty issues in accordance with Mueller’s written warranty policies and procedures.
  • Administer warranty program, including processing claims, maintaining documentation, and communications with customers and vendors regarding warranty issues.
  • Cooperate, assist, and add value to Sales/Service business relationships with internal and external customers in a competent manner.
  • Provide on-site support for both DFE and RP products lines as needed.
  • Assist production teams in identifying and resolving quality issues as needed.
  • Attend and contribute to open book management.
  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Perform other related duties, as needed and assigned, including backup for other department personnel, to ensure support of the DF/RP product lines.
  • Travel 25% including travel within the continental US and international travel (Mexico, Canada, etc.).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license for travel.

The Staff Engineer is a senior contributor who provides process and structural engineering analysis, calculations and design of specialized and Engineered To Order (ETO) products. This position allows for a wide degree of creativity and latitude to take the lead on high-impact, complex projects.  The Staff Engineer will oversee project direction from an engineering perspective as well as analyze and provide solutions to challenges. This position will provide guidance and training to other engineers throughout the organization.  

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Generate and distribute all process and/or structural discipline engineering information needed to construct and execute a project.
  • Effective, frequent interaction with sales, purchasing, estimating, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers.
  • Review sales orders, specifications, and cost estimates to assure process, design and/or structural output fulfills requirements.
  • Prepare design calculations and perform or direct the preparation of drawings and design documents.
  • Review all drawings and specifications and ensure they properly relate to the estimate.

  • Provide timely resolution to issues related to process, design and/or structural engineering throughout the production process.

  • Drive and execute continuous improvement ideas and projects to improve efficiencies, improve manufacturability and reduce rework. 
  • Take ownership of key projects, leading them from concept to completion. Ensure project milestones are met, issues are resolved, and designs are aligned with scope requirements.
  • Support sales and estimating to evaluate customers' technical design requirements and develop a proposed solution during the quoting process.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in one or more aspects of design guiding co-workers to solve critical problems.
  • Establish and maintain document control procedures.
  • Provide training to direct personnel and customers as needed. 
  • Travel including international, could be up to 15% as required by the project or other needs.
  • Ensure lessons learned applied to future efforts.

  • Minimum of five (5) or more years of experience in a process and structural engineering related field is preferred.

Summary

The Manufacturing Operator is responsible for shipping and receiving product and materials, washing finished product, and performance of entry level production tasks.

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepare all orders for shipment per sales order and serial number verification.
  • Pull, inspect, and package parts for shipment per sales order.
  • Build, package, and crate finished product for shipment per sales order using appropriate tools such as a band saw, nail gun, hammer, etc.
  • Receive, unpack, and issue materials and goods to appropriate location through defined system and process.
  • Sort, count, and check materials and goods received against bills of lading, purchase orders, etc.   
  • Load and unload raw material and finished product per sales order. 
  • Place raw material into appropriate storage racks.
  • Assist with cycle counting and inventory maintenance as needed.
  • Build kits per work order and deliver to final assembly.
  • Wash finished product per quality standard.
  • Meet all company quality standards and follow defined SOP’s.
  • Regular, in-person attendance due to necessary teamwork and personal interactive nature of this position. 
  • Overtime is a mandatory condition of employment and frequent in this position.

The Welder / Grinder is responsible for basic understanding and competency in welding and grinding of a variety of different metals, shapes, tanks, vessels, piping, components, etc. This position performs precision smoothing, polishing, and grinding of surfaces.

Essential Job Functions
•    Set up, operate, and maintain manual welding, grinding, and/or cutting equipment.  
•    Set up and operate hand and power tools common to the industry.  
•    Inspect and perform quality checks to ensure conformance to established tolerances and specifications.
•    Perform inspection of work pieces for quality defects and communicate appropriately. 
•    Perform welding and grinding procedures accurately to avoid warping, shrinking, and distortion.
•    Position and secure work pieces safely using overhead cranes, hoists, and other appropriate lifting devices.
•    Grind work pieces to a #4 (32 RA) finish using approved safety processes and procedures.
•    Set up, perform, and maintain various types of polishing equipment as needed. 
•    Obtain and maintain at least one ASME Certification to be used as required.
•    Meet all company quality standards and follow defined SOP’s.
