Current Openings

The Business Unit Manager will manage the assigned Product Line, developing and managing the product line’s business plan. The responsibilities of the Business Unit Manager include increasing the profitability of existing products to developing new products for the company. The Business Unit Manager utilizes existing ideas to assist in the development of new ideas based on industry experience and contacts with current and potential customers. The Business Unit Manager must possess business and technical skills, the ability to visualize strategic and long-term objectives, and the drive to make that vision a reality. They must enjoy spending time in the market to understand its problems, and actively engage in innovative problem solving activities. 

The Business Unit Manager must be able to communicate with all areas of the company and will serve as the internal and external liaison for the assigned product line. The Business Unit Manager directs the Product Line in its daily activities while frequently working with sales and key accounts.

Manages the entire product line from strategic planning to tactical activities. Develops the product line by identifying potential products, conducting market research, generating product requirements, determining specifications, developing production timetables, evaluating pricing structures to achieve the product line’s financial objectives, creating and implementing time-integrated plans for product introduction, and developing marketing strategies.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepares short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and special reports and analyses; answering questions and requests.
  • Manages Product Line staff including counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job performance.
  • Determines customers' needs by specifying the research needed to obtain market information, developing and implementing systems to obtain research, and analyzing the outcomes.
  • Facilitates inventory turnover and product availability by reviewing and adjusting inventory levels and production schedules in order to meet the business unit objectives.
  • Recommends future product offerings by reviewing current product specifications and requirements, and evaluating market trends; appraising new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes.
  • Assesses product market data by calling on customers with field salespeople and evaluating sales call results.
  • Obtains product market share by working with sales to develop product sales strategies.
  • Provides source data for product line communications by defining product marketing communication objectives.
  • Assesses market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products.
  • Introduces and markets new products by developing time-integrated plans with sales, advertising, and production.
  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Maintains Product Line staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Determines product pricing by utilizing market research data, reviewing production and sales costs, anticipating volume, and costing special and customized orders.
  • Brings new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs, by preparing return-on-investment analyses, and establishing time schedules with engineering and manufacturing.
  • Work closely with the General Manager insuring the alignment of the Product Line and Paul Mueller Company objectives. This position is to assist in the protection and promotion of the interests of the Paul Mueller Company as a whole.
  • Regular, in-person attendance due to necessary teamwork and personal interactive nature of this position.
  • Position requires travel up to 20% with possible international travel.  Actual travel time will depend on the needs of the product line and what is required to meet the business plan objectives.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with background in Thermodynamics desired.  A minimum of three years related experience is required for this position.

 

Base Compensation Range: $152,487 - $260,834 annually

Variable Compensation Range: Incentive bonus eligibility up to 10% of gross annual salary base on company performance (as of 2024).

Travel throughout the United States and Canada while operating newer equipment and enjoy being home most weekends.  The Over the Road Driver position is responsible for the delivery of our stainless steel products directly to our customers.  This position is responsible for safe loading and unloading of the product as well as securing loads for travel.  The Over the Road Driver must comply with all safety and transportation rules and regulations for all of North America and Canada established by the Department of Transportation. 

 Essential Job Functions

  • Long distance driving with oversized loads throughout North America and Canada.
  • Assist with loading and unloading equipment and product as needed.
  • Ensure all loads are secure utilizing chains, straps, tarps, etc.
  • Assist with assembling and disassembling trailers as needed.
  • Communicate with customer as needed.
  • Ensure customer deliveries arrive on time and as expected.
  • Communicate with Mueller Transportation operations team as needed. 
  • Maintain a detailed log of working hours to ensure compliance with state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Comply with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) rules and regulations.
  • Must maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.

The Cost Accounting Manager has key responsibilities of managing the cost accounting department by overseeing the Cost Accountants and ensuring that company policies / process relating to costing and inventory are in alignment with Generally Acceptance Accounting Principles (GAAP). 

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for coaching, teaching, and supervision of assigned personnel.
  • Responsible for effective employee relations. Initiates and is proactive with employee coaching and development. Resolves employee issues through identifying problems and resolutions. 
  • Provide on-site leadership for team by building and motivating team members to meet goals while adhering to their responsibilities.  
  • Responsible for the performance management (hiring, development, discipline, termination) of direct reports while collaborating with Human Resources.
  • Maintain knowledge of current US GAAP guidance in relation to cost accounting and inventory valuation and update internal processes and procedures to comply as necessary.
  • Implement and maintain accounting procedures to comply with internal control requirements to ensure appropriate internal control processes and procedures are in place and adequate.
  • Partner with and support the General Managers / Business Unit Managers in their initiatives providing thought leadership as it relates to operational efficiencies and success while maintaining compliance with GAAP.
  • Oversee and have responsibility for the daily operations of the cost accounting department including inventory and work-in-process (WIP) valuations, manufacturing variance analysis, reviewing and approving daily sales update batches, and intercompany orders management.
  • Serve as the primary accounting authority for the company’s revenue recognition practices under US GAAP (ASC 606), providing guidance and direction on appropriate treatment of customer contracts, equipment sales, and service components including determination of method of recognition.   
  • Oversee and manage the monthly responsibilities of the cost accounting department including profit recognition, net realizable value (NRV) analysis, construction-in-process (CIP) entries, calculation of company backlog, intercompany eliminations, and warranty reserves analysis.
  • Oversee and be ultimately responsible for monitoring and reconciling inventory work completed by the Cost Accountants.
  • Work with the Financial Analyst(s) and the business unit managers during the quarterly analysis of labor and burden rates to finalize appropriate rates and ensure correct updates are made in the system.
  • Oversee the quarterly calculation and analysis of LIFO inventory value and update company reserve.
  • Collaborate with the business unit managers and executive managers to review and evaluate slow-moving inventory levels and oversee quarterly reserve updates as necessary . 
  • Review the monthly journal entries of the Cost Accounting team and validate monthly / quarterly / yearly reconciliations of the cost accounting / inventory accounts and resolve discrepancies as they are discovered. 
  • Effectively manage the cost accounting schedule during the month-end close process and continually work towards timeline improvement.
  • Responsible for validating the Dutch GAAP to US GAAP translation adjustments within the financial reporting package provided by the foreign subsidiary, Mueller BV, as it relates to revenue recognition, costing methods and inventory.
  • Guide and direct the cost accounting personnel during the interim and year-end audits as various deliverables are required as well as assist with responses to analytical questions asked by the third-party auditors.
  • Continuously evaluate process-improvement opportunities within the cost accounting department as well as actively seeking opportunities to improve cost accounting interaction with the business units to improve overall company efficiency and accuracy. 
  • Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.

  •  Shape, cut or form metal to fabricate complex parts using press brake, shear, roll, dishing machine, flanging equipment and various forming equipment.  Layout, locate and mark bending lines, construct templates and patterns
  •  Set up or assist lower classifications in setting up machines
  •  Operate mobile crane equipment with the capacity of greater than 20,000 lbs. and directs the rigging and hoisting of equipment
  •  Finish grinding where grade and type of abrasive must be determined. Finish and compliance to specifications are critical

The Designer I position is an entry level position that performs design work for a single large-scope project or several smaller-scope projects simultaneously. 

Essential Job Functions

  • Convert project information (e.g., specifications, general sales order information, data sheets, etc.) into drawings and other documentation that manufacturing uses to produce a product.

We are currently searching for a Fabricator for our Springfield MO Facility.  Co-workers in this classification have a basic understanding and competency in stainless steel welding and grinding operations.

Essential Job Functions

  • Operates mobile crane equipment with the capacity of less than 20,000 lbs. and directs the rigging and hoisting of equipment
  • Set up and operate machines to make production parts to standard shop blueprints
  • Perform ordinary manual welding, grinding and cutting operations in all positions
  • Grind where grade and type of abrasives must be determined by others
  • Quarter heads and shells for fit-up and determine degrees and location of fittings and nozzles
  • Paint where finish or compliance to specifications are critical
  • Operate spray foam insulating and sandblast equipment
  • Perform tinning and complex soldering operations
  • Operate spot and seam resistance welding equipment
  • Set up and operate machines that require minimal skills and experience, such as presses, shears, saws, punches, etc.
  • Assemble motor controls and perform three-phase wiring requiring a working knowledge of ladder diagram logics
  • Coordinate various warehouse activities involving receiving, special order and inventory

The Manufacturing Engineer I is responsible for developing, designing, implementing and managing tooling, processes and procedures. This position will train all personnel on improvements or implementation of tooling, processes and procedures. The Research and Product Development Manager is pivotal in propelling the Company’s innovation and maintaining a competitive edge.  This position will drive innovation and growth within the organization through creating and implementing strategies for new product development.  This position is responsible for identifying, leading and managing the research and development (R&D) initiatives that align with business goals, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet high standards of quality and performanceThe Research and Product Development Manager is fully responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of new products and services as well as managing the R&D team. Additionally, this role is fully responsible for existing product enhancements and driving existing products into new markets. 

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for coaching, teaching, and supervision of assigned personnel.
  • Responsible for effective employee relations. Initiates and is proactive with employee coaching and development. Resolves employee issues through identifying problems and resolutions.  
  • Provide on-site leadership for the project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals while adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones.  
  • Responsible for the performance management (hiring, development, discipline, termination) of direct reports while collaborating with Human Resources.
  • Responsible for building and maintaining business relationships, which includes working with all levels and organizations of the company.
  • Ongoing research of current market segments and potential new market segments to understand the market needs and opportunities. with the goal of determining complementary products or acquisitions that will provide growth.
  • Complete Voice of the Customer (VOC) to understand our markets and the company's largest opportunities. 
  • Responsible for setting priorities and implementing new products. 
  • Utilize the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to collaborate with customers and understand their desires and needs as they pertain to new products, markets and services.
  • Develop and implement R&D strategies and initiatives with each business unit through understanding market, customer and business unit desires, needs and goals.
  • Recommend R&D opportunities and strategies to the business units through presentation of impact, scope, cost, return on investment and potential timeline. 
  • Monitor and analyze industry trends to continuously identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies and methodologies. 
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards.
  • Work cross-functionally with others and lead meetings to determine objectives, track progress, troubleshoot challenges, and execute deliverables.   
  • Identify and analyze risks and inefficiencies and actively seek out opportunities to troubleshoot and resolve.  Communicate plan to management.
  • Develop and implement plans to document project scope, schedule, tasks, risk management, and reports to communicate progress to the organization.
  • Create visual processes and tools to track project progress, challenges, and timing.
  • Identify and coordinate resource needs cross-functionally within the organization as needed. 
  • Collaborate with the business unit to set-up new product, pricing, standard, etc. in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Collaborate and support operational engineering and manufacturing on all new product, technology, and service launches to ensure manufacturability and operational success.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing on introducing and marketing new products, technologies, services, etc. through an integrated plan. 
  • Collaborate with the business unit to Safe Operating Procedures (SOP’s), drawings, calculations, etc. for operations, and sales of new products and product enhancements. 
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to determine product pricing, production and sales costs, volume and distribution.
  • Create and foster a cross functional culture of creativity, collaboration and continuous learning.
  • Complete post-project lessons learned and drive continuous improvement on processes and procedures.
  • Drive continuous improvement in product quality and performance.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
  • Manage the R&D budget and allocate resources effectively.
  • Regular, in-person attendance due to the necessary teamwork and personal interactive nature of this position.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • US and International travel up to 15-25% as required by projects and research.

Base Compensation Range: $121,990 - $208,667 annually

Variable Compensation Range: Incentive bonus eligibility up to 10% of gross annual salary base on company performance (as of 2024).

The Supply Chain Coordinator I is responsible for efficiently managing the flow of physical parts within the manufacturing facility to ensure timely fulfillment of production requirements. Key duties include coordinating part routing, optimizing distribution processes, and facilitating material movement to maximize manufacturing efficiency. Collaborating closely with internal supply chain teams, this role expedites work orders, conducts inventory management tasks, and monitors key performance indicators to drive operational excellence.

  • Coordinate the routing of physical parts to appropriate distribution centers in accordance with manufacturing specifications.
  • Proactively maintain and optimize parts distribution processes to meet manufacturing requirements.

  • Expedite and prioritize work orders to meet production demands.
  • Conduct inventory cycle counts to reconcile physical and system inventory.
